COMPOSITION & CONSTRUCTION
Overall construction of solid birch and MDF (medium density fiberboard) with birch veneer. Panels and cubbies are MDF with birch veneer. Support rails and cleats are solid birch. Adjustable levelers. All sides finished with hand-applied water-based antiqued finish using a multistep process; topped with lacquer sealant.
MDF, a man-made fiberboard consisting of wood fibers and resin binders, is known for its strength and stability, and is commonly used as a base for veneers. It features uniform consistency with no knots, and while it has about the same density as medium-weight hardwood, it is structurally more stable. It won't crack, and finishes adhere well to it, which results in a smooth end coat. All wood is kiln dried, a process that removes moisture from wood and ensures that it will not split, warp, crack or mildew.
Pottery Barn has established that using veneers for several of our furniture items provides us an opportunity to give our customers excellent quality and finishes. By using veneers, our furniture has flawless surfaces, consistent color tones, and will not be subject to gapping, warping and cracking, characteristics that are often present in solid wood furniture.
CARE
Wipe with a clean, soft damp cloth, and wipe dry immediately. Avoid the use of chemicals and harsh cleaning agents.

For standard delivery of items in stock, UPS will deliver as quickly as 5 business days. Items shipped to Alaska, Hawaii and US Territories will take longer, and are delivered by UPS or USPS at our regular fees, with an additional charge of $10. Some heavy or oversized items cannot be shipped outside the contiguous 48 states. For these addresses or APO or FPO addresses, call our Sales Department at 1.888.779.5176.
