Your Guide To Finding

THE PERFECT RUG

From size to material, we took the guesswork
out of choosing the right rug for every room.

Design Tips

The front legs of sofas and
chairs should sit on the rug.

Leave at least 6” of rug space
on each side of the furniture.

Make sure there is at least 1’ of
exposed floor between the rug
and walls. This further anchors an
arrangement, rather than looking
like wall-to-wall carpet.

For a much larger room, opt for a
rug that is large enough to contain
all four legs of sofas, chairs, coffee
tables or side tables.

How To Layer Rugs

For an easy update that makes a big impact, style a smaller rug on top
of a larger area rug to bring depth and visual interest to any arrangement.

Get The Look

Start with a neutral base, like a
textured sisal or nubby jute. Next,
layer a smaller rug, like a colorful
flat weave, soft wool rug or
genuine hide, on top.

The top rug should be roughly
2/3 the size of the base.

This is a great way to showcase
smaller, special rugs that would
otherwise look undersized.

Design Tips

Choose a rug that is large enough
to fit all four chair legs, even when
the chairs are pulled out.

Leave at least 24” of room between
the backs of the chairs and the
edges of the rug.

If the table is extendable, select a
rug size that can accommodate
the table at its longest length.

From runners to large area rugs,
there are multiple sizes and layouts
that work in the bedroom.

The most common rule of thumb
is to choose an area rug that
extends at least a foot from either
side of the bed.

For larger rooms or beds, consider
a rug that can also comfortably fit
your nightstands.

Choose a rug that frames the
door or can be centered in front
of an entry bench or table.

If the opening of the door is
obstructed by the rug, use a
runner or 3’ x 5’ rug centered
in the space instead.
