Chatham Outdoor Collection

The Chatham Outdoor Collection offers many different pieces of furniture. If you want your outdoor space to serve more as a dining area, there are bistro tables and larger banquet tables. If you want it to be more of a den or sitting room, you can choose from sofas, sectionals, chairs and tables. It might be possible to do both depending on the amount of space you have.

Create a dining room with a dark honey square, round or rectangular dining table. Add a faux cactus or succulent arrangement for a centerpiece. A faux potted jade plant makes a good centerpiece. If you choose a long, rectangular table, you might consider filling a galvanized trough with faux succulents. The faux varieties are no maintenance and work great outdoors or inside.

For a smaller dining area, the Chatham folding bistro table and chairs combination works well. A pillar or taper candle in a candleholder is great for a centerpiece on a smaller table. Candleholders come in slender candlestick shapes or hurricanes. Candle scents suitable for outdoor entertaining include bug-resistant eucalyptus or citronella, woody sage or lavender.

The buffet is a super addition to an outdoor dining area. With cabinet doors and several shelves, it provides extra storage. Keep outdoor dinnerware stored conveniently in the buffet. Melamine dishes and acrylic glasses are wonderful for dining alfresco because they are practically unbreakable. They come in gorgeous colors and styles that make entertaining easy.

If you want your outdoor area to be more of a den, check out the sofa and sectional options. The pieces can be added on to with connected arm chairs at either end. Use decorative pillows to bring out colors and provide extra comfort. Outdoor fabric is designed to be sturdy and to be weather-resistant. We have many colors and designs to choose from at Pottery Barn. Pillows can be a casual plaid or stripe or gingham. Or you might prefer a more formal botanical or floral pattern. We also have artfully-designed animal and sea life pillows and funky sayings on others. Mix and match bolster, lumbar and square pillows to create dimension.

Place side tables by your sofa or sectional. Guests will have a place to put their drinks, books or magazines. A table or task lamp is ideal for covered outdoor areas. The lamps add light at night for reading, conversing or just hanging out and allow you to spend more time in the outdoor living space because you can use it when the sun goes down.

A cushioned ottoman placed by the sofa can serve as a place to prop up your feet, as a coffee table or as an extra seat. It’s such a multi-functional piece of furniture that it’s suited for small or big spaces. If you want to use it as a coffee table to serve appetizers, simply place a tray on the ottoman for balance. Wood, pewter and galvanized trays are strong and earthy, which makes them a classic accessory for outdoor entertaining.

You can also make your outdoor space a little of both. One area can be for lounging in a chaise or on a sofa. The other area can have a dining table and chairs for dining alfresco. The bench is great for either. Keep a throw over the bench or a chair in case the temperature drops. If you want to nap or curl up with a good book, the throw will keep you warm and comfortable. Our throws come in faux fur, fringed edging, neutral or bright colors, plaids and solids so can match your decorating motif or just choose your favorite.
