We're Loving for Fall

5 Ways to Keep Your Summer Going

As the days get shorter and the nights cooler, the best part of fall is softening up our spaces to get cozy. It’s also a time of transition, where we prep for the season of guests and festive celebrations ahead. Lucky for us, these home design trends lend themselves to all of the above. Here’s our fall forecast for how to make the most of your home style.

BLUSHING BEAUTY

Blush is the new black. From dusty rose to barely-there pink, this color is one of the most-loved hues in home design. Truly versatile, it blends seamlessly with a spectrum of colors – from warm browns to cool grays to muted greens and blues – to give your spaces a pretty glow. Go big with an upholstered sofa, add a quilt to your bed or infuse a pop of pink with throw pillows. For a richer look, roll out a rug that features dark blush tones.

FABULOUS FAUX FUR

You can never have too much faux fur. Stylists love to soften up the sharp lines of mid-century modern furniture by loosely draping a faux fur throw over a bed or sofa. Come sweater weather, it will be your favorite thing to cuddle up under – and it’s the perfect extra layer if your guests get chilly at night.

COOL GRAY WASHES

Gray-washed furniture is an interior designer’s dream. Versatile, modern and multidimensional – there’s something so comforting about this light, bright color. Set the tone for a mellow meal with a gray-washed dining table, or create a soothing sanctuary with a patinaed bedroom set. Try warming up the cooler shades of gray with metals like brass and copper.

MIXED MATERIALS

A lasting trend in fashion, juxtaposing various textures can create balance and make for a distinct look. Home style is no different. Bring a room to life with an array of materials by mixing old with new, or soft with stark. For example, you can position hardworking metals against eco-friendly reclaimed woods for a cozy, welcoming contrast. It’s also an opportunity to blend romantic and masculine materials, like lace with leather.

FAUX BOTANICALS

Botanicals are always in style, but sunflowers, mums and olive branches are in the spotlight this season. Get garden fresh with faux botanicals – when they look just like the real thing, you get to reap the rewards of fresh flowers with none of the maintenance, all year long. (And year after year.)

DARK, DRAMATIC WALLS

Create a hint of drama with a midnight blue or inky charcoal accent wall. This contrast creates a perfect backdrop for a gallery wall, or as a striking focal point behind your bed. If you don’t want to emphasize imperfections on your wall, opt for a matte paint finish.

ALL VELVET EVERYTHING

We’ve got a crush – and it’s on velvet. Equal parts old-school glamorous and new-age cool, this fabric adds a subtle luster to any space and has taken the design scene by storm. Looking to refresh your living room? Make a style statement with velvet upholstery, or cascade velvet pillows across your sofa to soften things up. Add some romantic iridescence to the bedroom with a velvet duvet cover or a set of new drapes.

SHOWSTOPPING BEDROOM CHANDELIERS

Who says that chandeliers are just for the dining room? With the resurgence of romantic style, pretty overhead lighting fixtures in the bedroom are very much on-trend. Every morning you’ll rise and shine with a piece that perfectly fits your style, and makes your bedroom feel fit for royalty.

THE WELL-LOVED LOOK

Weathered furniture has been on our trend watch for a while, and we don't see it going anywhere, anytime soon. From red finishes that play well with the farmhouse look to coastal whitewashed wood, there’s a way to do weathered for everyone. Remember, that this look doesn’t have to feel shabby. Search for vibrant colors that have a well-worn look to add instant character to your home.
