5 Ways to Decorate with Parisian-Inspired Florals

Peonies and hydrangeas and orchids, oh my! Capture the beauty of Paris in the spring and bring the splendor of its famed flower markets to your home with faux botanicals that are always in season. No matter where you place them, the trick is keeping this look fuss-free – true to French floral style.

By the Bed

Bring a positive energy flow to your bedside tables or dresser by placing flower arrangements there. Stay on the smaller side to keep things feeling serene: mini orchids are reminiscent of a five-star spa and don’t take up much space, making them ideal for the bedroom.

On A Coffee Table

Create contrast by arranging bright pink peonies in a deep blue ceramic vase (or some other complementary combination) to liven up your living room. If you want to create the illusion of real flowers, place them somewhere that gets a little sun – a dark corner is a giveaway.

In the Bathroom

Florals brighten up any bathroom or vanity in an instant. Take note from French floral design and keep your colors tonal and not too busy – white hydrangeas look fresh and lush when composed with versatile viburnum in a glass vase. Humidity causes real flowers to droop, but faux flowers can hold up to some moisture.

At a Wedding

One of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris is the perfect place to find inspiration for someone’s big day. Design tablescapes with your favorite blooms, charming cloches and patinaed lanterns, like a fine French bistro. Stress- and wilt-free, faux florals are an alternative to traditional flowers that can be prepped ahead of time. (They make great bouquets and bridesmaids gifts, too.)

As a Gift

Have a friend who longs to roam the streets of Paris in the spring? Wrap a bundle of blush peonies in brown paper and finish off with a string of twine in for an authentic la vie en rose gift idea. Put it atop a wrapped gift, send it in the mail, or present it to him or her in person. It’s a gift that will keep on giving.
